Doing a blaccent should be as taboo as saying the n word

Summary

A straphanger thinks doing a blaccent should be as taboo as saying the n-word, and Kareem's here for it. She recounts the mortifying moment her white college boyfriend dropped the octave around her Black friends and even threw out a "finna" to a group of Black girls. Truly painful. The conversation spirals into digital blackface territory (using the darkest emoji when you're white) and TikTok's role in normalizing AAVE without context. Her proposed solution? The government should give all Black people spray bottles filled with milk. Not water. Dairy milk. Kareem tests out his own blaccent, triggering her fight or flight response, before she delivers the final plea: stop using the blaccent.

So, what's your take? Doing a Black sand should be as taboo as saying the N-word. 100% agree. Obviously, it's like very offensive, but it's also just so uncomfortable. Like, whenever I'm in that position, I feel like I'm in like a perpetual episode of "What Would You Do?" Like, I'm just looking for the nearest exit. You don't want to be there. I don't want to be there.

So, when you're confronted with the Blacks, what do you usually do? Sometimes I freeze up, you know, a little panic attack, but for the most part, I just try to leave. I've been using the white emoji lately because I think it's funny. If I were to use the very Black emoji, how do we feel about that? Is that a Black accent?

Oh, you don't like that? It's not a Black accent, but it doesn't feel very good. It's digital Black place.

Yeah. I feel like it's always like a suburban white guy who's like in love with Kodak Black doing it. I dated a white guy in college briefly, very briefly, and I thought he was normal. And then I brought him around my friends and the boys the octave dropped. Oh, he's like, "What's good, man? How you doing?" Fina, this Finn that. Oh Finn. He dropped a FA.

Yes, he did. It was to a group of Black girls. Truly mortifying because I hadn't seen this behavior before. And I was like, "Guys, I swear to God, like I've never seen this behavior from him."

He's just trying to assimilate. I also just feel like with like TikTok it's so normalized to use like Blacks and a ve and like people do it without like knowing like the history of it and I feel like there should be some kind of like corrective action that takes place.

I have a few ideas.

Oh yeah, please tell me the ideas. A spray bottle.

Oh, I think the government should provide all Black people with a spray bottle. And I don't think it should just be water. I think it should be something else like milk. Milk.

Like dairy milk. So we just spray them with some milk. Yeah.

So, is this a good accent though? Yo, what you what you f to get up to tonight? Yo, what you going to get up to tonight? My flight or flight.

Yo, you think people are going to find this video funny? I sure hope so. Stop using the plaque.
