New Yorkers Who Hate LA Are Embarrassing Themselves

Aug 30, 2024 · 0:57

Summary

A stranger on the subway delivers a take that'll sting some New Yorkers: people who constantly trash LA are "punching down" and embarrassing themselves. New York's already won, so why the hostility? Kareem agrees. The rider points out that New York is "number one on the call sheet," making all the LA-bashing energy seem petty and insecure. The kicker lands hard: most New Yorkers who loudly hate LA eventually move there anyway, like someone in high school protesting "I'm not gay" before inevitably coming out. "Babe, you're gay and you're moving to LA. I'll see you at Atar." It's a sharp read on coastal city rivalry, calling out the performative hatred for what it really is.

So what's your take? New Yorkers who hate LA are embarrassing themselves. 100% agree. Thank you. Let LA live in peace. New York is better than LA. Everyone knows it. This is not a fight. You are shadow boxing and you're punching down.

I agree 100%. New York is number one on the call sheet. That is an LA reference. And you're just getting stressed out. You're getting bent out of shape over an extra. There's no church that says "I love LA." No, you live in the best city. That should make you feel good. But no, you're winning and you're still mad. It feels you never punch down in comedy. So all the comedians that are like, "Oh, I feel bad for the people in LA," it's like, yeah, chill out about it. You don't have to remind them that they're pretty much American refugees. Most New Yorkers who vocally hate LA eventually move to LA. They're full of it. They're like me in high school going, "I'm not gay. I'm not gay. I'm not—" Babe, you're gay and you're moving to LA. I'll see you at Atar.
