People should stop buying electric cars

Nov 8, 2024 · 1:00

Summary

A climate activist with an electric car delivers a scorching takedown of the vehicles she thinks distract from real environmental solutions. She's sick of "old white men" bragging about their electric SUVs while owning three homes and two heated pools. Electric cars are unusable in emergencies, she argues. If you need to escape New York with only 2% battery, you're dead. Kareem agrees that prioritizing solutions for everyday communities beats catering to "slimy greasy Tech billionaires like Elon Musk." But when he jokingly suggests bringing back gasoline, she draws the line hard.

So what's your take? People should stop buying electric cars? 100% agree. I have one, it's awful. Electric cars have become a way for rich people to make themselves feel better about their environmental impact, because they don't actually save the environment. No. And the thing is, like, I'm a climate activist. I often have, like, old white men coming up to me and being like, "Oh my God, I'm so good, I just bought an electric car." And it's like, Steve, you own three homes, have like two heated pools. Owning an electric SUV does not make you gra a thbg. And they're unusable. Like, if there's a disaster, absolutely, and I need to escape the city of New York in my electric car and it only has 2%, you're dead. And I feel like if everyone just stopped gagging over electric cars, we could focus on much better solutions.

So you think electric cars are simply an illusion? We'd be much better off if we prioritize solutions that serve the majority of people in everyday communities rather than, like, slimy greasy Tech billionaires like Elon Musk? I like this take. I'm 100% agreement. Thank you. Bring back gasoline.

No, no, no, no.
