Stop Going to Bars and Restaurants Unless….

Aug 11, 2024 · 1:00

Summary

A rider who works in the restaurant industry thinks everyone should stop going to bars and restaurants unless they treat workers right. His proposal? Start asking servers and bartenders if they get health insurance and fair treatment, then boycott the bad spots. Kareem pushes back on the activism angle, but the guy stands firm. He's got insurance at his job. The camera operator Anthony? Not so much. No benefits at all. They're all just hanging out though, so it's fine. Totally fine.

So what's your take? I think everybody should stop going to bars and restaurants. 100% disagree. Why? I don't know, we want them to exist. You go to, uh, fast food places every once in a while. I go to fast food places and you feel bad when you go, right? 'Cause you know that they're not like, they're getting minimum wage and they're not treating them right. Well, every restaurant and bar you go to pays people less than minimum wage. So what are we supposed to do, shut them all down? Only go to bars and restaurants where they pay for people's insurance? How the hell do we find those places? Is there a map or something? Start talking to the people that work at these places. Go, "Hey, what, you know, do you get treated fair by your employer?" And if they go no, they can suck, then don't go there anymore.

So we're doing activism? Yeah.

So do you work at a bar or restaurant? I do.

Do you get health insurance? I do get health insurance. Oh, I don't have insurance. What, what's Anthony doing? Anthony, this does not have any benefits. Uh, but we're all hanging out. That's sad. We're hanging out. It's okay.
