Normalize licking plates clean in restaurants. (📍London) Feat. Daniyal Khan
Created/Produced by Kareem Rahma (@kareem) and Andrew Kuo (@akuoproject)
Summary
Daniyal Khan wants everyone to lick their plates clean at restaurants, arguing that leaving sauce behind is wasteful and has contributed to society's problems. He references France's "saucy" and Italy's "scarpetta" (mopping up sauce with bread) but thinks we should skip the bread and just use our tongues. He even shows off a literally licked clean plate. The conversation gets weird when they try teaching each other British versus American pronunciations. Daniyal promises to "stop the fuck out of all the plates" when he visits New York.

Normalize licking plates clean in restaurants. 100% agree. Thank you.
Finish it.
In France, they call it saucy.
Oh, in France, they do this already.
In Italy, they call it scabeta.
Do people do this?
Well, it's with bread. I'm suggesting I'm suggesting once you're done with bread, get the tongue out and get busy.
I didn't know there was words for sapping up the mess with the bread.
Yeah, French are very literal. So, saucy, saucy, nice. Uh, Italian scapeta means small shoe. In Pakistan, they call it just being a normal person. Just clean your damn plate. The type of behavior of sending a plate back with flavor on it is the type of that has got this world in trouble in the first place. Like why is that going unpunished? Like if I've bought something that I want to enjoy, why would I send it back with the bit that is the most enjoyable? A dish is always completed by a beautiful sauce.
Look, I I think it's a very good point.
I don't want to make a big deal of this.
It sounds like you are.
Yeah, fair. I mean like so so like for example if I bought a ticket at a cinema to watch a movie that I want to enjoy. I wouldn't go and then go 10 minutes before the end just leave the cinema.
You want to climax out.
If I buy a dog wa Okay. If I buy If I buy a dog and I take it to the park, let me finish. And I take the dog for a walk. I'm not just going to leave the dog in the park. I'm going to take that dog home with me. The dog is the source.
So do you do this?
Do I lick plates clean? Do you want proof?
Yes.
Look at this plate.
I can see the tongue streak.
That's how your plate should look. I think it's a little disgusting sometimes.
My dishwasher hasn't worked hard in like 3 years. Why? Because the plates I put in there are licked. You're a licker.
Yes. I want to reiterate that it's this sort of unsolved, uncalled out that has caused issues in the world that we're currently facing.
Like there could be world peace.
I don't want to go that far, but we would be further towards world peace. Everyone will just finish their damn food. Americans don't do the bread thing. We need a word for that. You guys will probably say something like CT ctp.
No, no, stop it.
Stop it.
Well, it sounds much worse in in an English accent. Stop it.
No, stop it sounds way better.
What did you say?
Stop it.
Stop it.
You need to work on that.
Stop it.
No, you're too tense when you're Stop it.
Stop it.
Stop it.
Stop it. When I hit up New York, I'm going to stop the out of all the plates.
