Expat is a racist as hell term.(📍London) @M@Misanspeaks
Created/Produced by Kareem Rahma (@kareem) and Andrew Kuo (@akuoproject)
Summary
Host Kareem interviews a guest in London who argues that "expat" is a racist term because white people from rich countries get called expats while others are labeled immigrants for doing the same thing. They also critique "people of color" as a phrase. The conversation gets real. They discuss resistance, free Palestine, and how Congolese people suffer for Western tech consumption.

So what's your take? Expat is a racist as hell term.
100% disagree. Does it? It doesn't strike. Who's expat? It's somebody that comes to another country, gets paid more for having less skill, and then when you and me go to their country, we're called immigrants.
Oh, this is really interesting. Wait, so if you come from like a rich country, I suppose, and you go to a poorer country, you become an expat. But if you come from a poorer country and you go to a richer country, you are immigrant.
You— That is expats are immigrants.
Colonialism 101. All right. 100% I 100% agree. Expat is racist. You know what else is a racist term? I believe people of color.
I 100% agree. What do you mean people of color? It's a ridiculous term. I think we should refer to white people as people with no color.
I'm serious. We should just be regular people. Like you're regular, I'm regular. Those guys are people of no color. What you're saying is part of the unlearning exercise, right, of racialized words that are historically very, very, very insidious. And um, well said. Well said.
Thank you, sir. I would also say boys with your name, Kareem, have every right to grow old in this world. I'm assuming that's translated in English to stop bombing Arabs.
Absolutely. And Middle Eastern countries.
Absolutely. Amen. 100% agreed. Please stop. Free Palestine, free Sudan, free Congo.
Always. And it's not anything you should ever be afraid to say. Resistance right now is the culture. Resistance right now is everything from comedy, joy, reading a history book, knowing what Sykes Picot is, knowing what a is, understanding we don't need faster phones because boys in Congo are being crushed for our latest tech, and building community.
That's my take. Amen, brother.
